Munire cribs are among the most well made, designed and sophisticated on the market. They are designed to convert from crib to bed; to grow as your child grows. They also form part of an overall package of furniture items to give a nursery a complete look.
Munire remains an independent manufacturer of nursery furniture based in New Jersey. It specializes in the manufacture of quality nursery furniture sets that are meant not only to furnish a nursery but to furnish a child's bedroom as they grow. Consequently the company only makes convertible cribs.
Some of the company's collections are made entirely of wood, while others combine finely crafted hardwoods and wood veneers. And all convertible cribs have both headboard and footboard when converted to a full size bed.
Here is just a sample of the convertible crib by Munire.
The Munire Antigua Crib
This crib brings to mind the cool sea breezes of the warm Caribbean. The headboard is the classical shape of a gentle curve that flattens at the ends. It is crafted with many fine details like sculptured moldings, hand woven rattan and hand carved feet. There are two finishes available; classic chestnut and mahogany. The generous dimensions of the lifetime crib are 32.75"w x 69.5"l x 48.5"h and 59.5"w x 80"l x 48.5"h when converted to full-size bed. Like all Munire cribs, a conversion kit is sold separately and includes 2 bed rails, 6 slats and hardware.
The Munire Oxford Crib
This is definitely a stately looking piece of furniture. Both the headboard and footboard consist of a central large slat with a beaded panel on either side. The headboard is further embellished with curves that are reminiscent of French Imperial style. The overall look is one of sturdy grandeur. Its dimensions are 32"w x 62.5"l x 54"h and 62.5"w x 80"l x 54"h when converted to full size bed. There are two finishes available; cognac and cherry.
The Munire Essex Crib
As if to prove that Munire also does simple designs, the company offers the Essex crib. This is about as simple as you can get. The slats are plain; the footboard consists of only slats as does the headboard. The headboard consists of a gentle curve along the top; the rest of the crib is of straight lines. The Munire Essex Crib is finished in white, rubbed black, cherry and classic chestnut. Its dimensions are 31"w x 60"l x 48"h as a crib and 60"w x 80"l x 48"h as a bed.
Munire cribs are for those who want furniture that makes a statement. It is of high quality that is around 20% cheaper than comparable nursery furniture. It receives strong praise from industry press: it is the only furniture manufacturer to receive "Best" ratings in both the crib and dresser categories in the Baby Bargains book (6th edition, Denise and Alan Fields, Windsor Peak Press).
Are there are criticism of Munire cribs?
In addition to its factory in NJ, Munire have now started manufacturing in the Far East. It's understandable why they have done this: the company can only offer its baby cribs at the price it does because of cheap overseas manufacturing. However, many companies have had quality issues when they have done this. It remains to be seen if the company can maintain both a competitive price and consistent quality with it collection of baby cribs.
Munire nursery furniture won't be for everyone either. They're more expensive than other brands, which will price many out of their product range. Also, Munire baby crib designs are beautiful but they can be quite grandiose and many will want a crib that is much simpler in design.
But, if you like this style, can afford the price and want one of the best baby cribs at this price, then it's worthwhile taking a closer look at a Munire crib.
